dear god. i work in a bookstore. working in said bookstore has allowed me to come the the realization that i hate old people. working at said bookstore TONIGHT has allowed me to come to the realization that i hate harry potter fans and nerds everywhere. except family guy nerds. im pretty sure if there was a family guy release thing i might be into it. except for the costumes. people dressing up in costumes makes me want to rip out my own eyeballs with a pair of dull potter glasses. SERIOUSLY. there was some nerdy 40ish year old man there dressed in full costume with a cape and everything. and some EXCEEDINGLY geeky guy with a shirt he made to say, "I speak Parseltongue" (or however u spell it...) that kept correcting everything he heard and making stupid nerd remarks. and some lady that ordered every possible version of the book, the same lady that thought just because i was standing by a book table i'd want to hear her tales of nerd extremity... i even tried to get rid of her, to no avail. there was the guy from channel 13 in pancake makeup and his buddy the camera guy who seemed to think it ideal to film the ONE employee who looked pissed just to be alive at that current moment (me) over and over. i can just hear them making a segment out of it now, "although many a harry potter fan could be seen at the Northside Barnes and Noble, clearly some were not so into the act." and then they pan through bits and pieces of the 10+ minutes they shot of me standing there glaring at every kid and adult. only paul was on my side, talking about how he wanted to punch every kid with a lightning bolt on his forehead in the face and kick out every 30 year old dressed up like anything at all. poor paul, he had to be there until 2am. at least i got to leave before it all REALLY began at 7:30... and tomorrow i have to be there until 4:30... i hope everyone dies.
